The Bear With Us sanctuary, in Sprucedale, Ontario,
specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of
orphaned and injured Black Bears and actively promotes the ideal
of peaceful coexistence between humans and bears. The sanctuary,
which was founded in 1992 and has been a registered non-profit
charity since 2000,
also provides a permanent home to Molly and Yogi, two ex-circus
bears from the United Kingdom.
Bear With Us is entirely
volunteer run (no paid employees) and boasts a worldwide Facebook following of over 63,000 fans.
In 2013, they won the Aviva Community Fund Competion, securing
funding for the construction of new bear enclosures and
educational outreach programs. |
